501(c)(3) Nonprofit Organization
Building a Sanctuary from the Ground Up
Stellar Animal Sanctuary is a newly approved 501(c)(3) nonprofit in Susanville, California. We are actively developing our 40-acre property into a full-scale refuge for animals in need — and we need founding partners like you to help us get there.
Our Mission
A Safe Haven for Animals Who Need It Most
Stellar Animal Sanctuary is a strict no-kill nonprofit founded on a single promise: no animal left behind. We are building a dedicated refuge in Susanville, California for abused, neglected, and displaced animals of all types — including dogs, cats, horses, farm animals, and wildlife.
As of August 2026, we are an officially recognized 501(c)(3) public benefit nonprofit organization. Our 40-acre sanctuary property is currently under active development — with infrastructure construction, well drilling, and facility planning underway. We are building this from the ground up, and every dollar donated goes directly toward making it a reality.
We are not yet operational on-site — but we are building toward something extraordinary. We invite founding donors, community partners, and future volunteers to join us now, at the very beginning, and help shape what Stellar Animal Sanctuary becomes.
Stellar Animal Sanctuary is being built from the ground up. We are actively seeking founding partners, sponsors, and community members to help us fund our infrastructure, establish our programs, and open our gates to animals in need.
Our Focus Areas
What We Are Building Toward
These are the programs and initiatives we are actively planning and fundraising to establish as our property development progresses.
Companion Animal Rescue
We are planning a companion animal program to rescue dogs and cats from high-risk situations across Lassen County — providing medical care, rehabilitation, and foster placements until permanent homes are found.
Farm Animal Sanctuary
Our 40-acre property will provide open pasture and dedicated housing for rescued goats, pigs, horses, and other farm animals saved from neglect — animals who will live out their days in peace and safety.
Wildlife Rehabilitation
In coordination with licensed rehabilitators and California Department of Fish and Wildlife, we plan to provide temporary care for injured and orphaned wildlife with the goal of returning them to their natural habitat.
Volunteers — Coming Soon
We Appreciate Your Enthusiasm
We are deeply moved by the community's eagerness to help. However, our 40-acre property is currently an active, heavily wooded construction zone — with well drilling, utility work, and site clearing underway. For the safety of everyone involved, we are not able to accept hands-on volunteers or on-site visitors at this time. We are working hard to reach the phase where we can welcome you with open arms. Stay tuned for updates as we progress through each stage of development.
Donations — Coming Soon
Not Accepting Donations Yet
Our 501(c)(3) nonprofit status was officially approved in August 2026 — and we are incredibly grateful for that milestone. However, our formal financial intake systems, donation processing infrastructure, and compliance procedures are still being established. We are not in a position to responsibly accept monetary or material donations at this exact moment. We want to do this right. Once our systems are in place, we will announce our official launch and invite your generous support. Thank you for your patience and belief in our mission.
